maybe there’s room for, “there might be someone who loves you more than i do. i see and respect that. but i’m here now, doing the best by you i know how, and i hope that’s good enough for her, to know you’re being loved well, maybe not as much as, but being loved well by me.”
then of course, i want her to see that i probably loved him more than she does, and i want her to see and respect it, and try to live up to it. she’ll never do as well as i could’ve, but that doesn’t mean she’s not good enough, it just means she better try more than her hardest, because he’s worth it. (incidentally, i’d fucking like to watch her love him more than the girl whose first love he was. watch her try.)
now: try and write a paragraph using the word “love” more than i just did.
